Dear Editor:
Often times you hear about how bad kids are these days. However, as a teacher I get to see the good side of kids every single day.
Last week at Paton-Churdan Community School, we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day in honor of one of our students. Together we learned about Down syndrome; how people are different from each other, but yet have so many similarities. Our principal, Annie Smith, planned such a rewarding experience for all, and as she told the kids, “We educate you, so that you can educate others.” Our students and faculty participated in an 80’s style show, where we “rocked our socks” to promote down syndrome awareness.
It warmed my heart to watch the students support this cause and our one special student with enthusiasm and love. They cheered, hugged, laughed, and celebrated together. There is still so much goodness in kids these days. I am so proud to be a part of the PC family! Denise Menke
